Hypoparathyroidism is rare endocrine-metabolic disease, characterized by hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia and low level of the parathyroid hormone (PTH). Hypocalcemia sometimes is associated with calcifications at the basal ganglias (Morbus Fahr), leading to epileptic seizures, hypocalcemic catharacta and depression.
